Proof of Process

In the spirit of transparency, I’ve collected examples of my human artistic process.

Pride Pythons: from monochrome to rainbow

My ball python heart started as duo-tone design for single color vinyl decals and was one of the first I cut with my Silhouette machine. Later, I returned to explore colors for possible pride themed merchandise. Now ball python heart continues to be the basis for many of my most popular items.

Cringe Proud or Die: from doodle to t-shirt

While the end result of all my t-shirt designs is a vector-based image for screen-print, I always start concepting in a raster program. Cringe Proud or Die was the most detailed illustration I had attempted. In a fit of insanity I refused to use live-trace and created all the vectors by hand. I’m not sure if that was wise, but my Terminus Tees agent did compliment me for having a clean file.

The gif on the left shows all my raster passes in sequence, while the photo shows my vector outlines.

Lolita Ball Python: sketch to illustration

My digital illustration process is to start with a sketch, refine that sketch, clean up line art with ink, and finish with color and shading. Lolita Ball Python is one in a series of sweet lolita predator animal prints from 2018.

Dark Hour Bakura: sketch to illustration

This example of my digital illustration process is from 2024. In this piece I shaded the characters to establish the dynamic lighting and then added subtle touches of hue afterwards.
