Solara Opening Reception

Whew, I’m so glad I made it to Solara’s opening reception on Saturday! It was wonderful to see familiar faces and beautiful pieces. I think 404 Found ATL certainly captured a “constellation of creative energy,” and I’m honored to be a part of it!

This is my first time working with 404 Found ATL and it was a straight forward process. When I visited their previous show, Dreamscapes, back in November I was able to ask Kat Stockton about applying to their future events. She hooked me up with an email list and fast forward to April, 404 Found ATL put out a call-for-art via email blast. Turnaround was quick, but that pressure got me to break out my acrylic markers for a spin, and voila! Two Worm Friends.

My Saturday was pretty full, but I was fortunate to pack up a little early at Free Comic Book Day, and make my way over to Buckhead about halfway through the reception. Originally, I figured I’d stop by somewhere on the way to get dinner, but then I realized Binders was in the same plaza as Disco Publix! As a fan of Savannah’s Fancy Parkers, I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to see Disco Publix’s fabled pizza slices and pours bar.

I arrived in time to see a few friends who were exhibiting as well! Many of the artists were fellow colleagues of the Atlanta animation industry. There was a wide selection of art styles and a few pieces even sold that evening. I’m already inspired to improve my acrylic marker paintings, grrr!!!! My next ones will be even better for sure!

The exhibit will continue to be up until May 31st at the Limelight Gallery, 3330 Piedmont Rd Suite 18, Atlanta, Georgia. Stop by to view the work of over 70 Atlanta artists!
